TPS63810: PSM/FPWM

Part Number: TPS63810

Hi team,

My customer used TPS63810 in their AR glasses system, they want to know how much difference in efficiency is there between PSM mode and FPWM mode?  they need the data to evaluate the device.

and when go through the TPS63810 datasheet, I have two questions:

  1. why there is two different output voltage ranges? What is the significance of this configuration? Are there any practical applications for this configuration?
  2. In buck-boost switch configuration, how does this circuit work specifically? why not bypass directly?

  • Hi  Jingguo,

These two output voltage range is bacuse different set of register 0X01. In some case, customer want a quick change of Vout for their application, then, you can set a different Vout1 and Vout2.

In buck-boost mode, whole switching period is consist by a buck cycle and a boost cycle, bypass directly will result in a high output ripple which is not acceptable for most case.

    Regards
