charging through a non-ferrous medium

I am experimenting with the Energizer Qi pad charging the Iphone through a thin acrylic sheet.  This simulates furniture or consoles imbedded with wireless charging.  Do you know if the medium selection impacts the charging efficiency... i.e. is wood less efficient than acrylic?  If you know of any resources that may help I would appreciate it, thanks

Kyle

  • Hello Kyle,

You will find very little difference in efficiency if you use dielectric materials.

Efficiency will degrade slightly when distance between coils increases.

The WPC technology is not intended to cover distance substantially higher than 5mm.

Any conductors or ferrous materials will inhibit power transfer.
