LP5907: Why Low Frequency PSRR Varies for Different Loads

Part Number: LP5907

Tool/software:

Hi,

I am wondering why the low-frequency (0.01kHz to <1kHz) PSRR varies a lot for different load currents, e.g., in Figure 5-20, PSRR@0.01kHz varies from ~-70dB for 20mA load to ~-50dB for 250mA. From what I understand, the PSRR in low frequency region is dominated by the Bandgap PSRR, which should not vary across different load currents.

  • Hi Yue,

Our leading theory on this effect is that there are thermal gradients on the die inside the package that can be aggravated by the package size and board layout. The conditions during the measurement are not clear, so we cannot definitively explain the difference.

    Regards,
