LM74701-Q1: Does it pass ISO7637-2 pulse5a?

Hi team,

We are interested in TVS less solution. In the datasheet, It passes ISO 16750 Pulse 5B but it looks 35V suppressed load dump. There are two questios shown below.

ISO16750-2 pulse 5a/5b are corresponding to ISO7632-2 pulse 5a/5b respectively?
Is this device suitable for ISO7632-2 pulse 5a (unsppressed load dump)? Or to pass that, do we need 35V suppressor TVS externally?

Hi Ochi,

1. I am unsure what ISO7632-2 is. Did you mean ISO7637-2?

2. To pass unsuppressed load dump, you will have to a clamping device as this device cannot withstand such high voltage.

My aplogize for typo. Yes, your understanding correct. ISO16750-2 pulse 5a/5b are corresponding to ISO7637-2 pulse 5a/5b respectively?

Hi Yoshiki,

ISO7637-2 is an old standard for Load dump and ISO16750-2 is the newer standard.

Unsuppressed load dump can be as high as 101V and suppressed is 35V for a 12V system.
