BQ24715: Current noise issue

Part Number: BQ24715

Tool/software:

Dear TI Engineer,

Our Tablet project uses BQ24715 as the charging IC (charge current is no more than 5A), but due to product structure limitations, the output bypass grounding capacitor cannot be used as 220uF on the datasheet. During charging, it is found that there may be significant current noise issues.

When we modify the output inductance to 1uH, the current noise will greatly reduced. Can you help confirm the impact of using 1uH inductance on the circuit? Or is there any other better suggestion to reduce the current noise?

Thanks,

Kind Regards

  • Hello Lumina,

Please refer to section 9.2.2.1 Inductor Selection in the datasheet:

I don't see any obvious issue using a 1uH inductor. Using a smaller inductor will increase the I-Ripple, I recommend checking if the I-Ripple from a 1uH inductor falls within your parameters.

    Best Regards,

    Christian
