BQ27427: Power management forum

Part Number: BQ27427
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, GPCCHEM

Tool/software:

Problem description: After burning the golden image in BQ27427 through the programming tab of BQStudio, data is lost after removing the power and restarting. Does this step burn in RAM or ROM? Does BQ27427 have NVM storage space? How to burn in ROM so that data is removed without losing power.

  • Hello,

The BQ27427 is a ROM gauge, gauging parameters and images are stored in the ROM. Upon a Power On Reset (POR), the contents of the ROM are reset and configuration defaults are stored in RAM. An ITPOR status bit is set to indicate when the contents of the RAM are returned to the default state. This bit could also be an indication to reprogram the image. The BQ27427 does not have NVM. You could use a Host MCU to store the data and reprogram the gauge after loss of power or use a Flash Gauge.

  • Thank you very much.I have some another questions.

Can BQ27427 be programmed with specific battery chemistry profiles? If cannot,is the golden learning necessary?

  • Hello,

The gauge is preprogrammed with 3 chemistry profiles. You can run the GPCCHEM tool to see if the ChemID matches one of the preprogrammed profiles. If it does not match the profile, you would have to use a Flash Gauge.
