BQ35100EVM-795: Whats the update frequency required in Accumulator mode?

Part Number: BQ35100EVM-795
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ35100

Tool/software:

Whats the update frequency required in Accumulator mode?

That is how often is the GE ON->guage start->accumulator read->gauge stop-> GE OFF  cycle required.

From the data sheet it appears like it's '30 minutes' - Is that correct? Or can it sit indefinitely without waking, continuously measuring charge while GE OFF?

  • Hi,

The bq35100 device measures and updates cell voltage, cell temperature, and load current every 1 s and begins accumulating after GAUGE_START is received.

    Evan

  • Evan,

Thats not what I'm asking. We are building a low-power application. What I'm asking is given the cycle above (wake-measure-sleep)-How often do I have to wake up and take measurements so that the AccumulatedCapacity stays accurate. Again the datasheet reference 30 minutes. In the first page it mentions 8 hours for some modes.

I'm just looking for confirmation, from an expert what the frequency is. Make sense?

  • Hi,

That was unclear from your original post, every 30 minutes is required.

    Regards,

    Evan
