BQ51050B: Comm Pin Capacitor Upper Limit

Part Number: BQ51050B

Tool/software:

Hello,

I have been troubleshooting some communication issues between a charge pad and a BQ51050B equipped system. I have identified an issue at certain distances where the BQ51050B responds to the digital ping, but the charge pad does not recognize the signal strength packet.

We have replaced the 22nF capacitors with 47nF on the comm1 and comm2 lines, per the datasheet and other E2E posts. There is improvement in communication robustness, and it seems an even higher capacitance may still be helpful. I saw mention that efficiency would be affected by increasing this capacitor value (and perhaps there are secondary issues the TI team could educate me on).

I am interested in testing values higher than 47nF but is there a recommended upper limit to the communication capacitor?

Thank you,

Andrew
