Hi team,

My customer want to know CTRL1/CTRL2 setting on CDP mode. Here is their situation: USB2.0, BC1.2, CDP mode

Which one should they choose (CTRL1, 2) = (1,0) or (1.1)

And could you also teach me the CC1 and CC2 settings. Is it OK to Open?

Hi Youhei,

For CDP mode, it should be CTRL1 = 1, CTRL2 = 1.

CC1/CC2 need to connect from 830A-Q1 to the Type-C connector. I suggest following the typical application circuit shown in section 11.2 of the datasheet.

Hi Eric,

If they think to connect to the Type-A connector, they should open CC1/CC2. Is that right?

Hi Youhei,

For a Type-A connector, connect CC1 to GND and leave CC2 floating. If both are floating, the DC/DC will not turn on.

It might not be. TPS25830A-Q1 is primarily targeted for Type-C ports. Therefore, the bus voltage will only be enabled when something connects on the opposite end of a Type-C cable. According to the Type-C definition, the connected device will have a 5.1k pulldown on the CC line. TPS25830A-Q1 monitors the CC pins and will output voltage when it sees the CC voltage drop.

Since this application is a Type-A port, there is no CC line connected to the device on the other end. So we must permanently install the 5.1k resistor to cause the bus voltage to become active.
