Hello team,

My customer is looking for an LDO with strict area requirements. Does TI have an LDO that can meet the following requirements? Could you introduce me to an LDO that meets the requirements as much as possible?

For example, does TLV772 meet their size requirements of 3mm x 3mm (including peripheral components) ?

Customer’s Requirements

Input Voltage: 5V

Output Voltage 3.3V

Output current: 100mA or more

Mounting area: Approximately 3mm x 3mm (including peripheral components)

Heat: Ambient temperature +30℃ or less

Hi Takemura-san,

TLV772 is an adjustable LDO currently only available in SOT-23 which is a leaded package. The addition of the feedback resistor network may not make a 3mm x 3mm mounting area possible.

Given the output voltage value, we could recommend TLV77333PDQNR which is a fixed output LDO in a 1x1 package. The only additional components needed are an input and output capacitor, which need to be very close to the LDO already, minimizing the mounting area.

The TLV773 is attractive, but there is one problem: it generates a lot of heat, so it is unlikely to be usable in the customer's environment.
Could you please recommend an LDO with a thermal resistance of 150℃/W or less, preferably 100℃/W or less, and a size of less than 3mm x 3mm?

Hi Takemura-san,

If it is possible to use a slightly bigger package, I would then recommend TLV75533PDRVR which is in a 2x2 plastic package and has a thermal resistance close to 100C/W. The only issue will be the input and output capacitors will add to the necessary size.

Hi Takemura-san,

TI offers the multi-package LDO EVM for TLV75533PDRVR, since this is a multi-source device which shares the same pinout with other devices. The multi-package LDO EVM is an unpopulated board, so the customer could order some samples of TLV75533PDRVR to populate the board.
