BQ76952: Fault status is cleared when we attempt to write on the data memory

Part Number: BQ76952

Tool/software:

Hi E2E forum,
We are developing our battery protection system with BQ76952.

For some of the capabilities of our BMS, we need to deactivate CFETF and DFETF after a fault occurs. For example, when OCC triggers, we need to deactivate CFETF permanent failure, so we can charge our batteries with a low current charger till the point PACK-TOS recovery voltage satisfies.  For this we need to keep track of OCC status and stop charging when OCC recovers. But the problem is, as soon as we disable the CFETF through the CONFIG-UPDATE, all the faults automatically recover. Is there any other solution for this problem?
Thanks,
Ali

  • Hello Ali,

While in CONFIG_UPDATE MODE all measurements and protection monitoring stops. However, when you exit CONFIG_UPDATE MODE if there is an OCC it should trigger again.

Also, the FET's cannot be enabled if there is an enabled safety fault present.

What are you trying to achieve with this sequence?

    Best regards,

    Thomas Rainey
