1. Was BQ76942 able to work without a microcontroller, in fully autonomous mode for all protections, balancing, and other fault functions?

2. Can we achieve full Autonomous function using OTP programming method?

Yes, the BQ76942 can operate without a microcontroller and can achieve full autonomy using OTP programming method.

Hi Rainey,

i am planning to acquire the EV2400 interface board, to configure the OTP of the BQ76942 chip. But, on the EV2400 website, under Supported Products, BQ76942 is not mentioned, and none of the battery protection ICs are present. On the BQ76942 website, under Technical documentation, a few of publications state that the EV2400 is used to read and write the parameters of the BQ76942 chip. Can you please conform, Can i use the EV2400 for the OTP function?

The EV2400 is compatible with the BQ76942. For more information on how to preform OTP you can refer to the BQ769x2 Calibration and OTP Programming Guide and this other E2E thread. This will help with every step in performing OTP.
