UCC27212A-Q1: Two switch forward converter with secondary side syncronous rectification

Part Number: UCC27212A-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC27311A-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello Ti team,

Going through UCC27212A-Q1 half bridge gate driver for two switch forward converter  suits my application .it does not have cross-conduction prevention logic know??

If cross-conduction prevention logic there means to UCC27212A-Q1 i cannot use for two switch forward converter .so can you check and confirm it..

2) Also i am thinking about secondary side synchronous rectification for two switch forward converter ..does TI has any AEC-Q qualified common controller for driving all four MOSFETS with  satisfy forward converter working principle.

3) If any  synchronous rectification AEC-Q qualified SR -controller available also you can recommended . i will think of using two controllers,

  • Hi Karthik,

Thanks for reaching out to TI.

If I'm understanding your first question correctly, you are confirming the UCC27212A is a device without interlock. This device does indeed not have interlock. If your device needs interlock. we'd suggest the UCC27301A-Q1, which is also a 120V driver.

If you're looking for a newer device without interlock as well, we'd suggest the UCC27311A-Q1 which does not have interlock/cross-conduction prevention. It is a 120V driver with similar drive currents, but with a higher UVLO at 8V.

As for the controllers, you can find what TI offers here.

    Thanks!

    Jeremiah

  • Thanks Jeremiah for your answer,

I dont need cross-conduction prevention logic as i will be using UCC27212A-Q1 in two switch forward converter . So i asked UCC27212A-Q1 doesn't have interlock and cross-conduction prevention logic know.

Anyway you given the answer UCC27212A-Q1 does not have interlock/cross-conduction and thanks for it,

Ok i will look into UCC27311A-Q1 if it has better features than UCC27212A-Q1.

But i need AEC-Q1  Automotive qualified PWM controller for the UCC27212A-Q1 gate driver which controls the two switch forward converter.

Can you suggest any AEC-Q1 PWM controller which drives the two switch forward converter with UCC27212A-Q1 or UCC27311A-Q1 half bridge driver interface like below picture mentioned,

So please check and suggest me the PWM controller,

    Thanks in advance Jeremiah !!!

  • Hi Karthik,

We have our SR controllers here: https://www.ti.com/power-management/synchronous-rectification.html

If you have more specific questions on controllers, please consider submitting another E2E thread to the appropriate BU, since I am not the expert of that product line.

    Thanks,

    Jeremiah
