Hi All,

A customer is considering the TPS65994AD and TPS65987D.

These devices each have an I2C slave port that connects to an EC.

Is there a register map document for the EC to access these PD controllers?

Hi Ishiwata,

I am adding Matt from our marketing team to this E2E thread so he can help provide the documents under NDA if needed.

Our register mappings are detailed in our "Host Interface Technical Reference Manual" documents. This document is available publicly for TPS65987D here, but is covered under NDA for TPS65994AD. Additionally, we recommend using TPS65987DDK instead of TPS65987D. The D version is older and support for it will be limited. The DDK version is the newer and current version.

Hello Alex,

Thanks for your reply. I have an additional question.

When I look at the datasheet for the TPS65987D, it says that the applications are docking systems, monitors, and hubs, but is it recommended to use it on the host side of a notebook computer?

Hi Shuji,

The TPS6598x family would not be fit for host systems today. If this is for a PC/NB application, could you share the SoC you intend to pair this PD controller with?

Please let me know the recommended PD controller that can be used as a suitable host for this.

Hi Shuji,

We have PD controllers to support each of the SoCs you have listed above. However, they are all NDA restricted as these are only intended for customers who are confirmed working directly with Intel.

Do you have an NDA with TI setup? If not, we can put you in contact with someone you can get you set up.

Hi Shuji,

Can you share the end application? I would recommend using one of our later generation PD controllers instead of the TPS65981.
