LM5185EVM-SIO: EMC test

Part Number: LM5185EVM-SIO

Tool/software:

hi,

did we drive some EMC tests on the EVM? If yes, which ones?

thx a lot

Vincenzo

  • Hello Vincenzo

It is not in the EVM user's guide, but I think we did since there is a conduction EMI filter on the EVM.

The responsible engineer is out of office now. I believe he will be able to answer your question on 6/10 Monday. Thank you for your patience.

  • Hi Vincenzo,

Sorry for the delay, and unfortunately we haven't yet performed the EMI test on the EVM.  The filter on EVM is a place holder but the filter values have not yet been verified.  Which EMI spec do you refer to?

    Thanks,

    Youhao

  • hi Youhao,

no problem and sorry for the belate reply here...

We are currently testing the LM5185EVM-SIO and it takes ~2-3ms to settle a load step from 0.2A - 0.5A.

Is this due to the RHP zero? What is the cross-over frequency for this board?

how are load-transient performance against the LM516x?

    thx a lot

    Vincenzo

  • Hi Vincenzo,

What is customer's desired response time?

I believe 0.5A enters DCM and this reduces the gain and hence the crossover frequency.  The EVM did not push the loop bandwidth.  However, we should be able to further increase the loop bandwidth.  Suggest to test with R17=75k (12.1k installed EVM), and the response should be faster by ~5x.   Sorry I don't have a directly comparison with LM516x fly-buck design but they can be made similar fast, given equivalent design.

    Thanks,

    Youhao
