LM5157: VOUT when UVLO is LOW

Part Number: LM5157

Tool/software:

Hi,

On a non-flyback topo, what is the VOUT value if chip is disabled (UVLO = LOW)? Assuming no Vdiode loss. Some boost converters completely ignore Vin and just pass through it to Vout, but some open the gate on SW so that Vout = 0V.

Thanks.

  • Hi Takeshi,

    Thanks for reaching out.

In a boost-topology, the input voltage ( minus diode drop) will be on the output side if the controller is disabeld. This is because there is a direct connection through the diode. (Or highside MOSFET body diode in synchronous boost).

Only if the controller has an extra disable switch, it is possible to have 0V at the output. Lm5157 does not have a disconnection switch.

    Best regards,

    Moritz
