TPSI3050: Using TPSI3050 as an ideal diode solution

Part Number: TPSI3050

Tool/software:

Hello,

We are looking for a high voltage ideal diode ( 400V or so) solution ; Can TPSI3050 be used as an idea diode ? If so, how does it need to be configured ?

Does TI offer other solutions for this application at 400V?

  • 2- In addition to the idea diode, we need a pre-charge circuit for the DC link capacitor. Any suggestions/ recommendations will be highly appreciated
3- Does TI recommend using SCR or MOSFET in the pre-charge circuit for this application ? ( 400V, 6000W)

  • Hello Eduardo,

Thanks for reaching out to our team on E2E! I'm not familiar with using the TPSI305x-Q1 as an ideal diode although I can imagine it can be done. Would need some way to detect forward current and drive EN high during forward current.

We have an active (inductive + switching) precharge solution for charging a DC link capacitor here and I'm working on releasing a passive (resistive) precharge solution.

What are your precharge requirements (voltage, capacitance, time)?

    Best regards,
    Tilden Chen

  • Actually we are more interested in using a passive pre-charge solution; Can you elaborate on that solution or share some design guides ?

  • Hello Eduardo,

Since the design guide is in draft form, it has NDA restrictions, so I cannot post it publicly here. It looks like TI has an NDA agreement with your company, so I can share it via email. Can you please send me your email over private message?

    Best regards,
