LM5165: Behaviour when Input Current Limit is reached

Part Number: LM5165

Tool/software:

Hello,

I set Input current limit as 180mA typical through ILIM pin. Please help to answer below -

  • During startup condition, if the Input current reaches this limit. Will LM5165 be prevented from starting up ? or Will the LM5165 startup time will increase ?
  • During active condition, if the Input current reaches this limit. I assume that LM5165 setpoint voltage drops but it does not initiate overcurrent protection  or hiccup mode. Is this correct ?
  • Hello KrnB

There is no input current limiting function. I think you are talking about  high-side peak current limit

If the peak current limit is reached at no load start-up condition, the start-up time will be increased. If the peak current limit is reached due to heavy load conditions during start-up, then the start-up will be failed.

The device doesn't have a hiccup mode protection function.
