LMG1210: Help Needed: Troubleshooting GaN Driver Circuit with LMG1210

Part Number: LMG1210

Tool/software:

Hello everyone,

I am using the INNOSCIENCE GaN product INN650DA140A to generate high-frequency pulses with minimal heat generation. To drive the GaN efficiently, I chose the LMG1210, a half-bridge driver. However, during the simulation process, I did not get the expected result.

The schematic is followed.

I would appreciate it if you, as professionals in electronic design, could help me check if my schematic is correct. Any suggestions you can provide to improve the performance of the circuit would be greatly appreciated.

Please let me know if this answers your questions or if you need any further information.

Sincerely, Kawhi

  • Hey Kawhi,

Thank you for reaching out to TI with your question regarding the LMG1210.

As an FYI, you do not need a power supply for both VIN and VCC/VDD due to the internal LDO.

We recommend to have gate resistors on the LO and HO traces as well. Due to the fast switching nature of this circuit, these could be 0-ohms but it would be good to have them their as provisions in case they are needed.

The 10nF capacitor on HB-HS may be smaller than what is needed by this system. Please refer to this Application Note for how to calculate that value as well as the VDD capacitor value.

Bootstrap Circuitry Selection for Half-Bridge Configurations

There is no output stage connected to HS so it is left floating. What is the planned output stage for this system?

Can you share the waveforms of the unexpected behavior that you are seeing?

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thank you,

    William Moore

  • Hey Kawhi,

Have you been able to resolve this issue? If so, can you please share your findings?

If not, can you please provide me with an update of the status of what you have found as well as responses to my above questions?

    Thank you,
