120W 230Vac @ 50Hz to 12Vdc @ 10A part recommendation

Part Number: UCC29910A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS546D24A,

Tool/software:

Dear TI team

I am gonna use TI Ic for Auxiliary power supply

suggest High efficiency, low cost control IC to do this

Requirement is 120W,12V,10A DC,input is 230 V ac 50HZ

kindly suggest control IC

i may plan to go through synchronous buck

Thank you

Unfortunately, because you tagged your question with a medium voltage (18V Vin Max) non-isolated DC/DC Buck regulator, the TPS546D24A, which does not support an AC input or a 12V output, your question was sent to the wrong group for support.  I am going to try and redirect your post to the correct group for support.

In the future, even if looking for a part recommendation, it will help you receive a faster response if you can find a part that at least works for your application first, and tag that part.

My initial recommendation would be to consider a BUCK PFC such as theUCC29910A, which can produce a 12V output directly from a 230V input without first boosting it up, then stepping it down.

I have made edits to your post and redirected it to our High Voltage product line who should be able to assist you.

  • Hello Venkatesh,

AC-powered applications > 75W usually (although not always) require power factor correction (PFC).
If this is true for your application, then UCC29910A is a possible 1-stage solution, as Peter suggested above.
Output capacitance can be extraordinarily large, however, depending on your hold-up and output ripple requirements.

But if your application also need isolation from the AC line, then the UCC29910A alone is not sufficient; an isolating DC-DC stage will be necessary.
Or, an isolating single-stage Flyback-PFC can be developed for 12V out, but again will require significantly large Cout.

For a 120-W power level I suggest using UCC28056C for the PFC controller, if you need PFC.
For the DC-DC stage, I suggest using UCC28C50-series PWM controller as a flyback or forward mode converter.

    Ulrich

  • Thank you so much

    i will check with design
