BQ40Z50EVM-561: High Current application

Tool/software:

We would like to use the EVM in a 3S application but with high current capability, the maximum discharge current would be as high as 54A.

Can we modify the EVM to handle this peak discharge current? What changes would be needed?

If not, do we have another EVM or reference design to handle large discharge currents

    Hi Steve,

    The bq40z50 EVM is not designed to handle a 54A discharge, however I can check if there is a reference design for high current.

    The max readable value in the current register for the bq40z50 is +/-32A, so the coulomb counter would need to be scaled in the device so it could be used. The sense resistor voltage would have to not exceed the absolute maximum, which is +/- 300mV.
