TPS7H5003-SP: - Inverting Converter

Hello,

I was wondering if it was possible to set up the TPS7H5003-SP in an inverting configuration like the one below such that the TPS7H5003-SP would be the PWM drive signal?

If so, would I configure the Output voltage feedback resistor network to have the COMP pin as the reference instead of GND?

Hey David,

The controller can be used in an inverting buck boost converter.
Generally what you end up doing is grounding everything to the negative output voltage.

Generally we recommend a driver between the TPS7H5003-SP controller than the FET.
For easily driven FETs the controller may be able to drive it, however that is not something that is thoroughly tested for this part.
Though for something like this it gets a bit more complicated.

What are your input/output specifications?

My specs are

Input Voltage = 5VDC

Output Voltage = -5VDC @ 100mA sinking capability
