TPSM63610: Regarding enabling the TPSM63610 through FPGA

Hello all,

I am using TPSM63610 in my project for three applications (28V to 12V, 28V to 8.5V and 12V to 4V conversion). In the datasheet (reference schematic in the datasheet) as well in TI WEBENCH circuit designer, the IC is being enabled through Vin only. I want to enable it through the FPGA. My FPGA I/O banks are operating at 3.3V.

Can I directly connect a signal from FPGA I/O bank to the enable pin of the IC TPSM63610? If not, please suggest how to connect for all three applications (28V to 12V, 28V to 8.5V and 12V to 4V conversion).

Hello,

You can drive the EN pin of the device using an external signal. Refer to the Enable Pin section of the EC table found in Section 6.5 of the datasheet for required logic levels. A 3.3V EN signal will be OK.

We do not have specific reference schematics for specific I/O configurations from external devices. As long as you can meet the EN pin requirements, it should work. How to configure your I/O to meet the EN pin requirements would depend the FPGA device which I cannot comment on.

Hey Ridge,

I am using Xilinx Artix 7 FPGA for your reference. Will it be okay to connect the enable signal directly from FPGA bank to enable pin of the IC, or I should I put any resistor in between.

Hi Sahil,

As long as the external signal from the device does not violate the TPSM63610 ABSMAX ratings and meets the EN threshold voltages listed in the EC table of datasheet it should be OK.
