Deepak,
1. On clicking the "Write All Preserve" button it will show a popup menu that allows selection of preserved values. If you see the only options as "No preserve", then the EVSW does not support this feature. In such cases the functionality is equal to "Write All". In many cases the only option available in the popup is "Preserve Calibration". Since Calibration values are per pack and not a general use setting, the Preserve Calibration will write all values on screen except for Calibration values, thus preserving calibration values.
2. PF flag must be cleared by send the PF clear commands. The flags are intended to be permanent for safety purposes. The clear commands are to be used for debug or testing only.
Hi Shirish,
Thanks for your prompt reply.
Can I use Bq20z95 for Nickel & lead acid batteries also by changing the internal cell voltage values in Data flash. Will it be able to work because in its datasheet it is mentioned that it only works for Li-ion cells only.
Thanks & Regards.
bq20z95 was designed specifically for Li-Ion. The chemistry IDs are also only available for Li Ion. It is possible that bq20z95 can be used for NiCd but it would be a lot of work to figure out the correct thresholds and chemistry values.
TI has other gas gauges specifically targeted to NiCd/NiMh and i recommend using the specific solutions. One of the readymade solutions is bq2016

Hi Shirish
Thanks for your reply. I will check BQ2016 also.
Can you tell what parameters of current threshold & chemistry I have to change so that Bq20z95 can work on other chemistry also.
I think all the parameters related to chemistry are stored in Data flash. Bq20z95 is itself a MCU only (I think) which work on values stored in its DATA FLASH. Even if it is chemistry specific, it will be written into its Data flash. What are those parameters which determine which chemistry it is working on.
Thanks & Regards
The bq20z95 was developed specifically for Li-ion chemistry. There are a lot of differences between Li and Ni chemistry.
Therefore other products have been developed specifically for Ni-Cd/Ni-Mh. It is best to use those products that are designed for the particular application.
