BQ35100: bq35100 calibration questions?

Part Number: BQ35100

Tool/software:

We have custom hardware with bq35100 installed. Current hardware unfortunately does NOT support open open circuit voltage calibration.

1)Can I calibrate voltage with current flowing? What are the effects? I may be able to put the device in a low power state to get the current consumption way down but it won't be 0.

2)Any issue with using a power supply in place of the battery for this calibration procedure?

3)For the current calibration I was just going to put the device in a while loop to maintain steady current consumption and calibrate using a power supply-Again any issues here?

4)Whats the point of the board/cc_offset calibration, why would I want to 0 out the current if in fact current is flowing? Wouldn't I have to reaccount for that in my power/discharge calculations...

  • Craig,

    1) This could affect accuracy, I would verify your voltage, current, and temperature readings after accurate.

    2) You should use a power supply to calibrate the gauge.

    3) The device needs to be powered on and in calibration mode.
