I am trying to use the TUSB1046EVM in I2C mode. So far, I have changed the I2C_EN header to 1 (HIGH) to enable it. What other modifications are required on the board to use it in I2C mode?

I am looking to get TUSB muxing to automatically detect USBC orientation.
I have a system similar to the picture attached.
On the TUSB1046 side I am using the same PD controller used in the reference design for TUSB1046EVM: TPS65982
On the TUSB1064 side I am using TPS65987D
Ideally, I would like to get both to automatically detect USBC orientation.

I mainly support the PD controllers, so can help you in this regard, but you may need to do some work on you end to get the system working with the TUSB part.
Is there a reason why you are using the TPS65982? It is a fairly old part, and if there is no specific reason, I would recommend using the TPS65987DDK for both PD controllers.

If I understand correctly, you are looking to implement the cable orientation over I2C.
First, I would recommend reading this App note to understand how our I2C Master feature works.
To implement this behavior, you will need to determine what the register value and address that needs to be written to upon a cable orientation event.
Once you have determined this information, you can configure the PD controller through the GUI to program those registers.
The Cable Attach CC_1 and CC_2 events will trigger on your cable attach in the upside-up, and upside-down orientations respectively. When these event trigger, the PD controller will attempt to do an I2C write using the data payload. You will can configure the data to reflect the register address and payload that will configure the TUSB part appropriately.
