Hi, expert
I hope to know does TPS65987 could support private protocol? If not, whether TI has the PD controller could support private protocol?
Thanks!

Hi Hailey,
I'm not sure what you mean by private protocol, can you elaborate?
Thanks and Regards,
Chris
Hi, Lim:
Here private protocol I means it unlike public protocol, private protocol are generally developed independently by manufacturers. The biggest difference to consumers is that their charging devices can only provide maximum power when connected to their devices. Third-party charging devices can often only provide compatible fast charging or do not support fast charging at all.
Could you help check does TPS65987 support customer to define private protocol, or do we have the device support that? It will effect my customer to choose our device, thanks.
Hi Hailey,
Who is your customer, and what are they looking to implement with a custom protocol? Is it only upgraded power capability?
Do they have experience with USB-C PD, or are they new to the technology?
What is the end equipment?
I do not think the TPS65987DH will fit their needs, but depending on the answers to the questions, we might have other parts that could fit.
Thanks and Regards,
Chris
