BQ76942: RST_SHUT Pin Operation

Part Number: BQ76942

Tool/software:

Test steps:
1. Power supply is in normal working condition, and RST_SHUT remains at a low level
2. Instantly reduce the power supply voltage to below the CUV value and maintain it continuously
3. Wait for AFE to trigger CUV protection to close DFET
4. Raise RST_SHUT voltage for more than 1 second (but at this time DFET is on)
5. AFE enters Shutdown

The yellow: RST_SHUTDOWN Pin voltage

Green: Output voltage

Why when RST_SHUT is high, the DFET is turned on?

This do not match the description in the TRM.

  • Hello,

When RST_SHUT is driven high a partial reset occurs. This partial reset will reset the cell undervoltage protection, in turn allowing the FET to turn back on. The RST_SHUT pin does not directly reset protection FETs, it resets the protections that control the protection FETs. For a better understanding on how the RST_SHUT pin will effect the FETs you can refer to this E2E link.

    Best regards,
