BQ25798: Is there an 100% autonomous mode to enter and leave backup mode?

Part Number: BQ25798

Tool/software:

Hi!

The BQ25798 has an automatic way to switch from charger to backup mode, when EN_BACKUP = 1 and VBUS falls below the threshold.

Is there any way to switch from backup mode to normal charger operation (when an adapter is connected to the power input VIN1) without host intervention? E.g. when the BQ25798 is operating in backup mode and power is restored.

2nd Question: how should we treat D+/D- inputs when the USB detection is not used? With a pulldown resistor or connection to GND?

Regards!

  • Hi Lien,

Is there any way to switch from backup mode to normal charger operation (when an adapter is connected to the power input VIN1) without host intervention?

Host intervention would be needed for the charger to exit out of backup mode when the adapter is reconnected.

how should we treat D+/D- inputs when the USB detection is not used? With a pulldown resistor or connection to GND?

D+/D- sets the charger's input current, leaving it floating will set it to the lower of 3.0A and ILIM_HIZ. The host can disable ILIM_HIZ pin and the host can set the ILIM to a maximum of 3.3A.

    Best Regards,
