TPS25751: A command to forcefully stop charging

Tool/software:

Our product uses a combination of TPS25751 and BQ25713 as the battery charging solution.

If in some cases we have to actively stop charging completely while the charging port is still connected, are there any registers in TPS25751 that can be set, or is there any other alternative to meet our needs?

Dave,

If this is required, you could simply change the Port Configuration -> Type C State Machine = 3h (Disabled)

This would stop the USB-C connection while plugged and also stops the current charging.

Hi Chris,

Additionally, we would like to inquire from which register we can obtain the information that charging has been completed.

Because we are not sure if the trickle charging has ended.

Hi Chris,

Sorry I didn't explain it clearly. We hope that we can use the command to stop charging when charging the connected device, rather than disabling the charging function first during programming.

The register/field I suggested would not need to be done during first programming. This can be updated by EC at anytime and cause connection change automatically.

The TPS25751 does not keep this information but there is a way to talk to the BQ part by sending I2C communication through the TPS25751! Please check out the 4CC command 'I2Cw'.

There is no way for this to be done with just first programming. EC refers to a microcontroller connected I2Ct.
