TPS923655: Queries on the working of TPS923655,TPS923655DMTREVM for building an experimental setup

Part Number: TPS923655
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS92641

Tool/software:

This is a request from ongoing case CS2401818.

For our experiments it is necessary to

  1. Control Frequency of the LED switching on and off(varying frequency from Khz - Mhz range)
  2. Control the current passing through the LED and hence the brightness.

Below are the kind of waveforms we want

In the datasheet of TPS92365xEVM

The LED current gradually increases followed by gradually decreasing.

We want the LED to be instantaneously on and off.

From what we understand in there are 3 pins controlling type of dimming and frequency

PWM/EN

ADIM/HD

SW

In PWM dimming

PWM/EN - PWM signal

ADIM/HD - high

SW - controlled by RFset

We want to know which pin controls switching on and off the LED ?

Basically what does pin PWM/EN, SW exactly do?

Similarly in analog dimming

What does pin ADIM/HD, SW exactly do?

Also can we control the LED turning on and off by using a

function generator at  the PWM/EN, ADIM/HD pins?

We understand from previous conversations that the components in a  given EVM board are fixed and altering the components can void the warranty.

Therefore can we have an empty post at Rfset where we can put our desired value of resistor to control the frequency of turning on and off the LED.

Summary (please read this)

for our experiments it is necessary that

we control the frequency of turning on and off(instantaneously) the led(varying khz - mhz range)

(current through led should be like square pulse - on and off)

different currents flowing through led

also please clearly explain the functions of the pins pwm/en,adim/hd,sw?(which pin controls the led on and off, what is the function of other pins)

using your ic,evm board can we achieve the above

If not , please suggest if we can use any other ic, methods?
