TPS650864: VIN 5V Operation TPS6508640

Part Number: TPS650864

Tool/software:

We are designing Zynq board 9EG for that we need 5V Operation of TPS6508640.

In datasheet we need to provide >5.6V to VSYS pin. If we give 5.8V to VSYS pin by using Boost converter is it ok.

If ok what is the max current drawn VSYS pin

  • Hi Indravathi,

5.8V is technically fine but you may need a bit of extra input capacitance to protect against any dips in the input voltage. A larger input voltage would be safer on VSYS if you want to stick with the 1uF capacitor recommendation.

VSYS should only draw around 200mA but if you're using the VIN voltage for BUCK 1, 2 and 6 FET inputs it's possible a large current transient could drop VIN beneath the UVLO threshold.

The FET input capacitors can help with this too but make sure the boost converter can source enough current for LDO5V and LDO3P3 at the minimum.
