BQ76925EVM: Issue with MSP430F2122 Microcontroller and I2C interface in BQ76925EVM Evaluation Module

Part Number: BQ76925EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F2122, , BQ76925

Tool/software:

Hello,

I am writing to report an issue we encountered with the bq76925EVM Evaluation Module that we ordered for battery charging purposes. Specifically, we are having difficulty interfacing with the MSP430F2122 microcontroller on the board through the I2C interface.

Here is a detailed description of the problem:

  1. Firmware Download Issue: We attempted to download the firmware obtained from the TI website into the MSP430F2122 microcontroller via JTAG (FET430UIF). Unfortunately, it appears that the MSP430F2122 has become unresponsive. The Code Composer Studio (CCS) is not recognizing the target microcontroller.

  2. I2C Interface Access: Additionally, we are unable to access the I2C interface using another microcontroller. This further complicates our ability to retrieve data necessary for our application.

Given these issues, we kindly request your assistance in resolving the following:

  • Guidance on troubleshooting the MSP430F2122 to restore its functionality.
  • Recommendations for successfully downloading the firmware to the MSP430F2122.
  • Support for accessing the I2C interface from another microcontroller if the MSP430F2122 remains unresponsive.

We appreciate your prompt attention to this matter as it is critical for the progress of our project.

Thank you for your support.

  • Hi Digambar,

This question seems more specific to the MSP device. I'll loop in the MSP team to help support this.

Also, for your information, we have a typical response time of 24 hours during normal business hours: 9am to 5pm CST, Monday through Friday.

    Regards,

  • Hi Digambar,

I am not familiar with this board, but for MSP430F2122, please first check whether it can work or not. For example press the S3 and check the LED.

To access the I2C interface from another microcontroller, I noticed that S2 on board can be used to disconnect the MSP430 from the BQ76925.
