Hi team,

I'm encountering a consistent golden image programming failure rate of 5-10% with BQStudio on BQ34z100-G1 fuel gauges. During these failures, programming my golden image fails. A red "X" appears in the BQStudio programming window. Subsequently, BQStudio closes automatically and displays a "no device detected" screen. After this, it can no longer detect the gauge.

I've tried replacing potentially faulty BQ34z100-G1 gauge with similar faulty one from different PCB. However, BQStudio still can't to detect any of the gauges.

I'm working with several such BQ34z100-G1 fuel gauges that are currently malfunctioning. I'd appreciate your assistance in recovering them and restoring functionality.

When the device that do not connect to BQstudio are powered on, does the TS pin pulse on the device?

When I power it on, TS pin has constant voltage of "2.5V" (WRT ground)

If the TS pin is not pulsing when the device is powered on, the device is most likely damaged.

Hi Evan,

I've checked a few more working BQ34z100-G1 fuel gauges, and it turns out their TS pins aren't pulsing either. They're still functioning fine with BQStudio, though. So, it seems the pulsing TS pin might not always indicate a problem.

These faulty ones were perfectly alright before flashing the golden image, but I suspect a loose connection of the EV2400 during programming, as this issue was only seen in 15% of the ICs. Interestingly, the rest flashed with the same golden image are working fine.

If a loose connection of the EV2400 during programming can cause this issue, how can I restore my ICs? Alternatively, are there any other possible reasons for this?

What temperature are the gauges reading? Are you using the internal thermistor?

No, we use an external temperature sensor.

When the battery pack is at room temperature, the readings are correct, typically ranging from 24°C to 27°C. (Assuming you're asking about gauges that are functioning properly, such as when BQStudio can detect it and the constant voltage at the TS pin with respect to ground is 2.5V.)

Hi Steve,

It is peculiar that your device is functioning like this, but as long as your temperature reading is accurate this should not cause issues.

Is it possible to flash your device with default FW?
