BQ79600-Q1: Can ADBMS6821 be replaced with BQ79600?

Part Number: BQ79600-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello guys,

One of my customer is looking for a TI product which can replace ADBMS6821.

At this moment, they have the following questions.
Could you please give me your reply?

Q1.
Can ADBMS6821 be replaced with BQ79600?

Q2.
If your answer to Q1 is No, does TI have any device which can replace ADBMS6821?

Your reply would be much appreciated.

Best regards,
Kazuya.

  • Hi Kazuya,

The BQ79600-Q1 is functionally similar to ADBMS6821. The ADBMS device uses 'isoSPI" to communicate to both the battery monitors in the stack and the MCU. Our BQ device uses VIF (TI's UART-based proprietary communication protocol) to communicate across devices (pack/battery monitor ICs) and is able to use UART or SPI to communicate to the MCU. Our device is able to offer more flexibility to customer for the communication to MCU by being able to support both UART or SPI host interface.

    Thanks,

    Abigail Bueno.
