LM53600-Q1: Need to find an alternate component for LM53600LQDSXRRB

Part Number: LM53600-Q1

Tool/software:

Dear Team,

We were using LM53600LQDSXRRB in one of our project and it got failed in field so we suspect that the low side switch has failed due to this the input supply is directly supplied to the output side to fail the respective input supply for MCU and other modules. As per the datasheet LM53600LQDSXRRB we notice that the SW to GND minimum voltage is -0.3V but in latest DC/DC converters of TI has robust i.e.) -6V. We need an alternate component with same pin compatible and also considering the SW to GND minimum voltage should be -6V So, please suggest us an alternate component for to reduce the change of schematic and layout designs.

Thanks.

  • Hello

Please specify your input voltage range, output voltage, and load current range.

Along with any special requirements such as switching frequency, ambient temperature, package. etc.

    Thanks

  • Thanks for your reply Frank,

We are currently using the LM5360x-RB (Automotive grade) 36-V Synchronous, 2.1-MHz, Automotive Step-Down DC-DC Converter. Kindly consider the voltage rating of the same LM5360x-Q1 and package we use is WSON-10. We had received some field failure on that we found the Buck Regulator has failed and the output terminals i.e.) 5V supply modules are damage and we suspect that the failure is due to the failure of low side switch of regulator due to this the input supply 12V is shared to the SW pin and it failed the module.

The LM53600LQDSX has a minimum rated voltage of -0.30V, but during usual operation the level is permanently -1.25V so to improve this we though to have a similar Buck converter with minimum voltage rating of -6V (SW to GND), pin compatible component with the same voltage rating of LM53600LQDSX. • Hello

I will check and see what we can offer.

    Thanks

  • Hello

How did you determine that a negative voltage on SW was responsible for the device damage ??

    Thanks

  • Hi Frank,

Thanks for your reply, we suspect that might be the cause for the damage as the voltage rating is more minimal compared for SW to GND (-0.3V) to latest DC/DC converters but to confirm that we thought to share the fail parts of DC/DC converters 5nos out of 25nos of failures to get a review document. We will connect with TI team individually for analyzing further on failure. But currently to speedup the immediate recovery we thought to connect with TI to find an alternate part with the above mentioned requirement i.e.) minimum voltage -6V for SW to GND, Pin compatible considering the voltage rating of LM53600LQDSX.

Will wait for your reply, please share the alternate part if possible as early.

    thanks

  • Hello

I don't think we have something that is P2P compatible.

Also, many of our devices do not have a transient rating for the SW pin.

The transient rating for LM53600 is -2V.

You need to be careful about measuring the SW node ring.

You need to use a fast differential probe to make an accurate test.

The important issue is that the +SW voltage minus the -SW ring is less than the abs max rating.

    Thanks

  • Hello

I will close this post due to inactivity.
