Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5069
Tool/software:
Dear Support,
I'm developing an high current power distribution box from 48V supply with multiple outputs. At the moment I'm designing the switch with a TPS48111Q1 with the precharge path due to high capacitive loads. In order to be sure to reach a working voltage on the output with the precharge, I was thinking about increasing the pre-charge current, but driving the precharge path using PWM to reduce average current and power. Is it possible? The PWM on pre-charge can allow the device to behave as it was a sort of soft start?
The other solution would be to introduce a device like the LM5069 to reduce the inrush current, but, as far as my understaing goes, the current limit for inrush control also applies during the normal operation phase of the device, so if during normal operation the load reaches the current limit set for inrush the device would limit it until it turns off. Basically current limit of inrush should be higher than operating current of the device at any moment, am I correct?
Thank you,
Kind Regards
