BQ769142: NO DSG and CHG MOSFET configuration

Dear support,

i am considering to use BQ769142 in my design and i have a simple question.

I want to use it just to read information on I2C bus and to perform cell balancing, i don't want to use it to cut current flow: i don't need to place external MOSFETs and i read that this is an allowed configuration.

Can i leave CHG, DSG (PCHG AND PDSG) floating? Can you tell me the most suitable configuration, please?

Hello Giorgio,

Yes, you can leave CHG, DSG, PCHG, and PDSG floating if not in use.

You can refer to Table 16-3. Terminating Unused Pins of the data sheet for information on how to terminate unused pins.

One more question: in this configuration, should i connect PACK pin to BAT pin?

Hi Giorgio,

I would recommend connecting it in series with a 10kΩ resistor to the TOS (top-of-stack).

Since you are not using MOSFETs at all this situation is similar to yours.
