CSD19532KTT: To Reduce Mosfet VDS Max

Part Number: CSD19532KTT
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC27282,

Tool/software:

Hello Sir,

I am working with TI Gate Driver IC UCC27282 to Drive D2 Pack Mosfet CSD19532KTT.

The Application is an Online UPS

Input Voltage =48V DC

Output Voltage= 230Vac ,500W

Gate On Resistance is 124.7 E

Gate Off Resistance is 104.7 E

VDS Voltage Max is =110V

I want to reduce this VDS volt to a safe level

Please Suggest em some Solution

  • Hello Adarsh,

Thanks for the inquiry. First, please make sure you are attaching the scope probe as close as possible to the drain and source of the FET with a very short GND connection. The pigtail ground connection for most scope probes creates a large loop that can pickup noise that is not the actual drain-source voltage. The link below is to an app note on ringing reduction techniques for TI FETs. While this is mainly targeted to synchronous buck converters, the techniques such as using a R-C snubber are applicable to many applications using half-bridge configure FETs. There are also some good pictures of proper scope probe connections. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
