TPS6594EVM: Scalable PMICs GUI's Quick start not working with stacked EVMs on I2C mode

Part Number: TPS6594EVM

Tool/software:

Hi

I am trying to use quick-start to control the output of the buck converters in a TPS65941111EVM.

Both stacked EVMs are in a 1+1+1+1 configuration.

I was able to connect the EVM through I2C to the GUI (I closed GPIO2,SDA2/SDO; GPIO1,SCL2/CS, selected closed the jumpers for master and slave on their respective EVMs, and provided 3.3V to VSYS through an external power supply; I also set J47 to VCCA), but the GUI displays the message "Duplicate device names (or) invalid name found !" whenever I scan for devices.

I have also tried to write the registers individually, but even if I set the BUCK EN bits, I get no output.

What can I do to access quick-start?

Thank you.

  • Hi Rafael,

Before stacking boards did you update NVMs of the PMICs to match 2xPMIC case? And similarly I2C address must be set to be different for both PMICs.

Did you check communication works before stacking boards individually for both EVMs?
