LM61480: layout symmetry

Part Number: LM61480

Tool/software:

The layout example has symmetry.
If this is not observed, will the characteristic deteriorate?
For example, what happens if a capacitor is collected on one output and the feedback and BIAS are connected to the same point? (See attached image)

We would be grateful if you could also explain the reason for this.
We would be grateful if you could explain the reason for this as well.

  • Hi Hidemasa,

The design is symmetric since the that reduces radiated emissions. It should be ok to not have a symetric layout, but you won't benefit from the reduced emission effect that symmetry has.

Also I would connect Bias to VOUT through a 0 Ohm resistor personally, so that you can adjust it if you need to.

    Thanks,

    Andrew

  • Hi Andrew,

Thank you for your kind response. I understand that the recommended design reduces radiated emissions and try to make it as symmetrical as possible.

    Thank you.
