TPS62873: Simulation of two TPS62873s in parallel

Hi team,

My customer plans to use 2pcs of TPS62873 in parallel. Do we have simulation models of TPS62873s in parallel? My customer would like to check simulation results. Pspice for TI or webench are preferable.

Hi Yamamoto-san,

What would they like to simulate? The simulation option in Webench, for example, uses the standalone Pspice model to perform its simulations.

The efficiency of a parallel solution is the same as a single device at half the current, since the devices share current very well.

Thank you for the reply. My customer would like to simulate 1. gain vs frequency response and 2. Phase vs frequency response of TPS62873 in parallel.

Yes, you can use the SIMPLIS model to measure the loop response of parallel devices: https://www.ti.com/product/TPS62873#design-tools-simulation

There is also a Pspice average model, but it would take longer to run.

Thank you for the reply. It is good to know that SIMPLIS simulation model supports the loop response. May I know how to use SIMPLIS simulation model on PSpice for TI? Do we have application note or E2E forum?

Unfortunately, you can only run a SIMPLIS model in SIMPLIS. You need a PSPICE model to work in PSPICE.

You can try the Pspice model and see how long it takes to run.

The most accurate method would be to measure the real circuit on an EVM. We have an EVM with 2 parallel devices here: https://www.ti.com/tool/TPS62873EVM-144
