BQ25125: STAT_0 STAT_1 = 11 Error Status When Setting ICHRG Higher than 70mA

Part Number: BQ25125

Tool/software:

Hello,

I am experiencing an issue with the bq25125 battery charger IC. When I set the charge current (ICHRG) higher than 70mA, I receive an error status with STAT_0 and STAT_1 both set to 1 (binary 11). At 70mA, the system works fine.

Here are the key settings I am using:

  • Reset the bq25125.
  • Set ILIM to 200mA.
  • Set CE to 0 (Charge Enable).
  • Set the MRRESET to 5 seconds.
  • Configure SYS VOUT to 2.5V.
  • Disable VINDPM and MRREC.
  • Set ICHRG to 70mA (works fine) or higher (causes the error).

Despite these settings, increasing ICHRG beyond 70mA results in an error status. Could anyone provide insights or suggestions on what might be causing this issue and how to resolve it?

Thank you for your help!

  • Hello Lucas,

Our responses will be delayed due to the U.S. holidays, we will respond by the end of the week.

Are you using a custom PCB or our EVM? Can you share the schematic and layout if it is custom? Also can you share the registers when the fault occurs.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hello Wyatt,

thank you for your quick response.

I am using a custom PCB with the following BQ25125 integration:

I will provide the register at fault state subsequenty as soon as possible.

Do you need all register values or any specific ones?

Thank you very much for your support.

    Best regards

  • Hi Lucas,

Can you please share all the register values for the device while it is in this state?

Also, it appears that the PCB info you shared may be missing or doesn't seem available, can you try sharing it again?

    Best Regards,
