TPS65987D: Power system issues.

Part Number: TPS65987D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25792

Tool/software:

Dear Support,

I'm not sure whether the problem is related to the TI TPS65987D USB controller, or the TI BQ25792 battery charger. I've attached a PDF with oscilloscope capture of the battery voltage, VBUS, and the charging current into the battery. As you can see, using a USB power supply with VBUS=20V , the battery starts to charge at 200mA for about 1 second before VBUS falls to 0V, eventually recovering after about 2 seconds. With a different USB power supply having VBUS=5V, the behavior is slightly different, but the battery still only charges at 200mA for about 1s at a time before VBUS drops rapidly.

Can you help me understand what may be causing this =power system issue?

Best rgds,

KPK
