TPS25750: How are the GPIO lines selected

Part Number: TPS25750
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: USB2ANY, BQ27Z561, BQ25792, TPS25751, TPS25751EVM, BQ25798EVM, BQSTUDIO

Tool/software:

I do not have the TPS25750EVM and we are only at the schematic stage of development.

Therefore cannot run the GUI or load a binary at this time.

In this instance how are the GPIO lines selected - do we need the USB2ANY before we can select a GPIO?

Do we need EVM for USB PD, Fuel gauge (BQ27Z561) and Charger (BQ25792)

  • Hello Adam,

Thank you for your query. Due to the 4th of July holiday, please expect delayed responses.

  • Hi Any update on this request?

  • Hi Adam,

    Thank you for reaching out!

Could you further clarify what you are looking for?

For a list of GPIO events, please refer to the Technical Reference Manual.

I would also like to highlight the TPS25751, which we are recommending for all new designs. Please see the following FAQ

  • Hi Aya,

    We can use TPS2751.

We cannot use the GUI for development of the binary or writing the binary to register 0x5C without the EVM? The 0x5C registers are not mentioned in the TPS25751 TRM. Is there an additional TRM for these registers.

what EVM do you recommend, TPS25751 Evaluation Module? Our design also includes Fuel gauge (BQ27Z561) and Charger (BQ25792). Do we need to use the USB2ANY device?

Which registers are you referring to? The TPS25751 Application Customization Tool (GUI) can be used to generate and flash the binary file to the TPS25751EVM. We have integrated I2C control for the BQ25792 built-in to the GUI based on a couple questions filled out by the user (i.e. charge current, charge voltage.. etc)

The TPS25751EVM User's Guide would be a great place to start. Section 4.2.2 covers how to set up the BQ25798EVM and TPS25751EVM.

In order to interface directly with the battery fuel gauge and battery charger, you would need an EV2400  to interface with BQStudio.

  • Hi Aya,

why is event 48 audio accessory is now removed from ref manual while is still mentioned in datasheet? And how about tps25751 being recommended to replace 25750 if this is missing?

  • Hi Adam,

I will loop in another team member to assist you while I am out of office for the next two weeks.

The IO Config portion of the GUI has the information of register 0x5C. You do not need an EVM to use the GUI..

The register is in the TRM on page 49. As seen highlighted, this register can not be changed during run time.

why is event 48 audio accessory is now removed from ref manual while is still mentioned in datasheet? And how about tps25751 being recommended to replace 25750 if this is missing?

I am not sure why it has been removed, but it does seem to have been intentionally removed from the TPS25751. The main alternative would be to read the Status Register on connection to determine what is connected. The connection state will report if an audio accessory has been attached.

    Thanks and Regards,
