UCC27524A sink current typical is 5A, the path is through ROL to GND. customer wander if the current over 5A, Can UCC27524A has internal protect to avoid damage ? Thanks.
Hello Haiwen,
Each channel of the UCC27524A has a peak current rating of 5A with the given 0.1uF load capacitor in the datasheet. A resistor can be added between the driver and gate to limit the current. The resistor size depends on the VDD and ROL resistance of the driver and the Rg of the FET. R = VDD/5A - ROL - Rg. As long as the temperature rise with switching frequency and junction temperature is within the datasheet recommended range, and also the average current is within the average current ratings there should not be an issue. The driver average current is just the Qg x fsw for each driver channel.
Thank you,
Walter

I mean if sink current is over 5A , UCC27524A has any internal protection to avoid damage ? Thanks.
Hello,
The device does not have internal protection to prevent damage.
