BQ25606: device getting into a confused status

Part Number: BQ25606

Tool/software:

Hi, im using BQ25606 for my system power management.

Schematic:

The STAT LED blinks at 1.9Hz, VSYS switch between 3.7V and 4.2V , PG keeps LOW  while applying 5V to the VBUS.

Condition: Battery connected, 10k resistor is apply to TS.

And i know that float the OTG pin is wrong, so i apply a external 5V to OTG pin using flying wire.

STAT:

As the datasheet said, 1Hz on STAT indicates a fault, but what a 1.8Hz shows?

VSYS:

  • Hello,

Just a quick schematic review, please use a 47 nF capacitor for the BTST capacitor as this is what we use.

Tying OTG high enables it. Please tie low.

What battery is attached? It does not look like one is, as SYS is going between 3.7V and 4.2V. Are you sure the battery pack protector is disabled?

    Regards,

    Mike Emanuel

  • The BTST should not affect the system as what i saw. And i dont really understand what OTG extactly do, would you like to explain what is "Boost Mode"(The topology showed in datasheet seems to be only buck mode can be apply), even more it didn't get back to normal whatever i tried tie it to both high or low.  The battery is a 2000mAh 18650 Battery with protector, is the protector break the charging process down? i dont think so.

  • Hello,

Boost mode is where the converter is operated in reverse from battery to input.

Please measure the BAT pin on the BQ25606 on oscilloscope to verify a stable battery voltage.

    Regards,

    Mike Emanuel

  • Sorry for my stupid, i just mark the BAT pins reversed. After a quick view on VBAT, i realized that, thank you!
