BQ34Z100-R2: Do we need to re-write Golden Image after replacing a battery pack with a new one?

Part Number: BQ34Z100-R2

Tool/software:

Hi team,

  1. I wonder if one needs to re-write the golden image after replacing a battery with a new one. (same chemistry, capacity, characteristics, etc).
    1. Note that our system does not yet provide the conditions to help the battery reach the lowest DoD through continuous discharge, which I understand is necessary to learn the proper full capacity. The pack is large enough and there is a constant charging source working in the daytime.
  2. Is a full reset necessary after battery replacement?

Regards

Ali

  • Hi Ali,

Yes, please reflash the golden image upon the replacement of the battery.

I recommend sending a reset cmd to verify all data has been written properly to data flash.

    Regards,

    Evan

  • Hi @Evan,

I just want to clarify, are users never supposed to replace batteries then? Or they're supposed to hit a "battery reset" button when they do?

I'm a little confused as how its supposed to be used. It seems like we're not following how TI anticipates the product to be used, and I am not clear what that is.

  • Hi Lucas,

You can replace the battery, upon replacing a new battery please reflash the golden image, the reset cmd afterwards is to verify that the file was flashed correctly but is not necessary.

    Regards,

    Evan
