UC3845: Higher Driver Strength Device Replacement

Hi Team,

Do we have other higher driver strength device like UC3845?

Customer uses UC3845 driving isolation transformer to drive post-stage MOS, now the MOS is paralleled, so the driver strength of UC3845 should also bigger now.

They don't like UCC14240 series, as it is single source.

    Not sure I understand the comparison between UCC14240 and UC3845? Most PWM controllers with integrated gate drive will be limited to ~±1S source/sink drive current but take a look at TI PWM controllers and if the controller cannot be changed, then consider TI low-side gate drivers as a higher current interface between the PWM controller and parallel MOSFET combination.

    Hi Steven,

    I find the UCC25800 that is same as customer application, which is shown below, the transformer secondary side is connected the VCC of isolated gate driver, as the isolated power supply.

    Hope this can help you understand the current application of UC3845. And would like to double check with you whether we have other higher driver strength device. Thanks in advance.

    You have shown/mentioned all three types of bias supplies: (1) UC3845 as distributed flyback (1) UCC14240 with integrated transformer and (3) UCC25800 is a open loop transformer driver. When you mention "driver strength", I believe you mean bias supply power capability but the term is somewhat confusing because "driver strength" is a measure of the drive current capability for a gate driver.
