UC2842: Are there any TLx84x, UCx84x series PWM controllers without hiccup mode operation?

Part Number: UC2842

Tool/software:

We are currently using an IC that operates in hiccup mode, causing issues with other equipment. The IC restarts instead of ceasing operation when it should, leading to problems. Are there any PWM controllers in the above-mentioned series that do not have this feature?

Thank you.

  • The PWM controllers you mentioned are all peak current mode controllers that can also be configured for voltage mode control but they do not have integrated hiccup mode operation. If these controllers are operating in a condition of start/restart...repeat, it is likely the VCC supply voltage is dropping out during the overcurrent protection (OCP). If this is the case, you need a way to keep the PWM controller alive during the OCP fault.
